ETERNEL The project is developed into four parts considered as movements of a symphony. The discussed subject is death, with the sense and connotations that mostly ancient peoples were used to give it and, more recently, even peasants, living in a now probably disappeared world. It’s a death that is just a part of life, and only in a very small measure it really takes its place. A kind of death, like any other form of change, covered by magic, soaked in legends and surrounded with fantastic tales. Differently from Sous la robe bleue, where the attempt has been to tell of a life of a person as if several figures could play each phase of existence, relating his/her joys, hopes, fears and hallucinated consciousness, here rather than the "mise en scène" of the characters, you can watch their absence. The curtain rises on the image of a small funeral as seen from above. The scene reminds an event happened many years before it was described in a lost place in Apennines, and it has an incredible similarity with the funeral services in several movie scenes shot in Southern Italy: the same dust, same white of the earth, same black of the dresses, the same solemn religiousness in motions… the same silence. Thus you don’t find any real character on the scene, but, on the contrary, what since the prologue acts in fact as the protagonist is just their non-presence, that feeling of void these ones have left or are going to leave (as it happens in La pioggia infinita) in our souls. It’s a feeling of a sweet nostalgia that permeates the notes on our account… that feeling of deep serenity some lucky living people have left after meeting death. (metaluxor/E.N.D.E.)
